Volunteer drivers

About the role
Our volunteer drivers provide an essential lifeline to over 450 elderly, disabled and vulnerable people who struggle with transport in the Ledbury area. Using their own cars, our drivers help these people get to hospital and doctor appointments and other essential journeys, like stocking up at the supermarket. It's a very enjoyable thing to do. The rewards include:
- car owner
- full driving licence
- some time to spare on weekdays (anything from 2-3 hours per week)
- live in Ledbury, Much Marcle, Colwall, Cradley, Bosbury, Ashperton or Tarrington.
- interested in helping others

What you will be doing
You'll be taking people on a range of journeys - anything from a short hop across Ledbury to a trip to Hereford, Malvern or Bromyard. How far you want to go is up to you.
How much time
Driving for Ring & Ride is a very flexible way of volunteering and giving something back to the community. You can do as much or as little driving as you like - anything from a couple of hours per week upwards - and it is easy to fit in around other commitments. You tell us your availability and we offer you drives to fit in. Some of our drivers commit to doing a regular day a week while others do it on an ad-hoc basis, as and when they are available,
Expenses
You won't be out of pocket - we'll re-imburse your mileage at 45p/50p mile.
What about insurance?
No special insurance is necessary.

Minibus drivers
Do you have a D1 endorsement on your driving licence (if you took your test before Jan 1997, will have this automatically)? If yes, then you could become one of our volunteer minibus drivers. You'll be helping drive our day-trips and excursions for the elderly and disabled and providing transport local community groups.
Full training will be given.

Passenger Assistants
Our Passsengers Assistants help look after the passengers coming on our trips and excursion. You'll meet a lot of interesting people and get to visit a variety of places. Full training will be given
